Dave you should dig up the posts and the software.
I, too, remember writing one in JSP before there were blogs, but it wasn't going to be a daily thing, just a topic-oriented thing. I planned on writing up a blog manifesto, including this code if I can find it.
I probably still have it somewhere. Most likely it is simply in "homedduffey.tgz" found in "backup.tgz" in "oldbackup.tgz" in "reallyoldbackup.tgz" in "oldwebserver.tgz", etc.
I need a better backup solution rather than simply backing up recursively :)
